A Day To Live Your Life Is All We Really Need
I'll tell you.
Keep your head up and walk into the new decade with a feeling of curiosity!
It might be hard, now, to put aside the troubles in your mind. Life might seem like it has gone sideways. Well, honestly, it does tend to do that every once in awhile...
But what you don't know is what the future has in store for you. Now, don't get me wrong. The older you get the more you have to work at it. Whatever it is that you are striving for. And all we really have between rest is one day at a time. And luckily, that is all the time you need to create a future for yourself. Unless you have SO much goin' on that you need two days in a row before bedtime. If that's how you are then you might want to make a new years resolution and reorganize your life so that you have time to live it one day at a time.
The only thing that should be timeless is love, memories and music...
And here is a timeless piece by Jelly Roll Morton And His Red Hot Peppers:

Get Out Of The Cold And Into Duke Ellington's Caravan
Hey y'all! Winter is just around the corner. And people are starting to feel the cold weather getin' up under their skin. Money is the kindling for some folks, who are busy trying to stoke their financial fires. Hard to find enough money these days, huh? Thoughts of cold climate Christmas shopping are starting to intervene with your daily routines.
And for those who are just trying to keep warm thoughts in your mind, somehow...
I got somethin' for ya right here!
Imagine: you are out in the vast regions of a sandy wasteland; the desert. The heat from the afternoon sun causes you to sweat through your thin layer of silky wears. The canteen you have has just about a drop of water left in it. You start to feel a little woozy from the sweltering rays of that fire ball in the sky up above. But then...
...up ahead you spot a little palm tree grove...surrounding an open lake which sits across from a large fancy tent. There is music coming from inside. You run along side the cool breeze that must be coming from the lake and pop your head through the opening of the tent...to find Duke Ellington's band playing this song...
Remember: the other half of your memories are good

The Church Of Scientology Is A Fraud In France
" A Paris court convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than euro600,000 ($900,000) on Tuesday, but stopped short of banning the group's activities.
The group's French branch said it would appeal the verdict.
The court convicted the Church of Scientology's French office, its library and six of its leaders of organized fraud. Investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used "commercial harassment" against recruits..." (Read More)
Well, I can't figure out why they would call it a church if they are trying to fool the people. Doesn't everybody know that God will see what you are doing? Come on now people, let religion be a part of your soul, not your bank account. And if you are going to congregate folks together, you have to give them something that enriches their hearts. Right now what the people need is some good music. If you get people to sing with spirit...well...they might just donate on their very own. That's how it's always been. Am I right? You know that I am. You cannot fool people with their own faith for too long...

Jaycee Dugard...I'm Still So Glad!
"Dugard, now 29, tells People magazine she's "so happy to be back with my family" after being reunited Aug. 27. " (read article)
Oh my goodness, if that aint some great news! Look at her!
She looks all fine and dandy, don't she?! That puts a smile on my face and faith in the heavens above. Lord knows she has been through it all. She's been through slavery. Yes sir...
But NOW, she is safe and sound in the real world, full of every possible dream she could have! God bless her and may all feel inspired by the goodness in all our hearts!
And now...I'm gonna have to play this song again!
Because that's how I feel right now!

War And Blues
(Continue reading article from Huffington Post)
(Sigh) Well, I guess no man knows the answer to war, really. Or else we'd a had one by now. They are now asking the question, " What is the solution for Afghanistan?" My question is, " Was there one ever? " Lookee here, people...war is like a bad relationship, sometimes. Which will just lead you to the blues. If you stop and think about it for a minute, you'll always have a song to sing. It will just be a blues song. Maybe one day we will have more blues songs than weapons for war. And I'll be so glad...

Let Helen Humes Uplift Your Spirirt
Hey there good people! How are y'all doing this fine week? Got your mind on some things? Is the economy still troubling you? I know it will do that to just about anybody these days. But don't you worry for too long now. Sometimes, trouble is just temporary. Some folks just forget that. Money will cause a whole bunch of trouble, too. And when the money is bad...so is the feeling of living. And when the feeling of living is like that...you get the blues. And that's why music is so important. It may lift up your spirit just enough to get you through a day. Or an hour. Or even a few minutes. Take a few minutes and listen to the lovely voice of Helen humes. And see if she can uplift your spirit a little.

Hugh Jackman Stops Show When Cell Phone Rings
" Hugh Jackman knows how to stop the show. He did it recently when a cell phone call interrupted a preview performance of "A Steady Rain," the Broadway play that stars Jackman and Daniel Craig...
...It shows Jackman breaking character to tell the owner of the ringing cell phone, "You want to get that?" as the audience erupts in cheers. As the ringing persists, Jackman pleads: "Come on, just turn it off." He then paces the stage of the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, waits about a minute for the ringing to stop and the play resumes. "
Aint that somethin'? You do realize that this has never ever happened before in the entire history of people on this planet. A private phone call from the crowd? In the middle of a play? Just think about that for minute...

" When it came time for Lavay Smith to pick a venue to celebrate the release of her group's new album, the ravishing San Francisco jazz singer didn't have to look far. It had to be Cafe Du Nord, the same spot she once played sold-out shows every week for nearly 10 years..." Sphere: Related Content

A song for Obama
Hey y'all. Howz the week so far? I hope you have forgotten something today. And when you remember, I hope it brings a smile to you. Or if it doesn't bring you joy, I hope you have a way to smile anyway. Like these classic blues singers do. They might have things that bring them joy or sadness. But the way they sing seems to get them through another day. That's all we can do sometimes. Hmmmm...I can imagine the statue of liberty singin' this song to any president.
Aint that a strange thing to imagine?
Anyway...
Y'all make some time for yourselves today.

A Story For The Rich...
Hey everybody, how are you doing today? Good, I hope. It's been a peculiar month of worries and woes for people. Take it from us blues artists; we know what we're talking about. For many years the blues has been a way for folks to release their emotions and concerns when it comes to dealing with heavy issues that life brings us. Whether it's R & B, country, rock and roll, bluegrass, soul, jazz and even classical music, it is important for people to share the feeling of togetherness. So that we are able to cope and deal with negativity by changing some of it into forms of positivity; the music.
Today's youth has brought about hip hop. Which some of us old folks are still getting used to. This very popular spoken word form of music and entertainment that allows us into the minds of these youngsters is important. To me hip hop was a natural development from the blues, jazz and R & B genres. It makes sense to have hip hop as one of the cultures story telling voices. More and more people have become so dependent on words because of the media and communication technologies, that it was inevitable for this to happen. So every once in a while, I try to tune in to what some of these youngsters are saying. They are getting more and more honest with their story telling, too.
I was reading some news today about the progress of this nation within the past 8 years. Economically riddled with confusion, this country has seen the money evaporate like a drop of water on a hot skillet. And as the new administration attempts to figure out the problems, the conclusions seem to come up the same every time. The poor and middle class folks are losing their money to the rich.
Here is a quote from the Huffington news:
" If the economy's growing, but middle-class and low-income families are falling behind, then the growth must be accruing to the top of the scale. And that's exactly what happened. "
And so I thought of this little hip hop story. From another perspective. Listen up, now...

GM Is Trying To Shake The Blues
Hello everybody and how are you doing today? I like it when people ask me that, too. It's always a good start. Kinda like the way the motor industry started. They were going strong for so long, too. Then they crashed on the road they built themselves. Already sounds like a blues tune to me. And wouldn't you know it, Harmonica Shah done beat me to it!
He's also givin' this mp3 away for free. That is like an emotional stimulus package for GM. Who I hear might be on the road to rebuilding their industry. Good luck GM. Until then, the rest of the automobile companies, please enjoy this tribute from

Freedom Jazz Dance Covers The Blues

Dodge the bollocks, do a “Freedom Jazz Dance”
I confess, when I saw the title Freedom Jazz Dance, I half expected an ironic indie rock send up, sax or perhaps a sloppy jam band abomination. What we have instead is, well, a freedom jazz dance! And it’s funky. This has a great, low swing to it and some tasty, lovingly executed leads on tenor sax and muted trumpet.

Blues Music Mp3's For Free??
Hey Everybody! Long time no talk to. I been away on virtual vacation, here in Netsville. Wonderin' about these financial blues that seems to be everywhere. You look left, you look right, up, down and all around...I don't even know, really, what to say about it.
One thing I can say about it, though, is that when ever I have the blues...I gotta play or go get me some blues music. But with all this economic frustration, I can't afford to buy any. I can't even support my own peoples music. It's a shame, I know. But, Lord knows I aint the only one. Some folks are lookin' around for some kind of remedy. And don't really have a way to pay nobody nothin' in exchange. Do you understand what I'm sayin' here?
These are hard times...
But then I stumbled across a brand new website that's just givin' away music for free! Now I aint talkin' about illegal mp3's that are gonna get you in trouble. No sir. I'm not even talkin' about PD4U. That's a good source of blues, but old news. Old songs, too. Good songs, though. But what I'm talkin' about is a brand new and modern up to date music source, with up to date mp3's. They got ALL kinds of music, sure, but they also have a little blues page started up.
Check her out...she's hip and cool and has come to my rescue...

How Long will it take for Obama to Check the Banks?
"The Obama administration is drawing up plans to disclose the conditions of the 19 biggest banks in the country, according to senior administration officials, as it tries to restore confidence in the financial system without unnerving investors." ~New York Times
Most of us forget that in order to restore the economy for everybody, we are going to have to be patient. Now, I wonder about that these days. It takes so long for us to agree on simple things like health care and environmentally friendly energy. Besides...we are still waiting...while every other country seems to be relatively ok with those issues. And on the other hand we are moving so fast with the speed of technology, there doesn't seem to be a way for us to even know if anything is working. This is a mutual affair here. It's between all of us, wouldn't you say?
Hmmm...I wonder now...
How Long will it take Obama check the banks?
Who's going to keep an eye on the
Money Brothers and sisters?
I guess we'll have to see...
