Jaycee Dugard...I'm Still So Glad!

"Dugard, now 29, tells People magazine she's "so happy to be back with my family" after being reunited Aug. 27. " (read article)

Oh my goodness, if that aint some great news! Look at her!
She looks all fine and dandy, don't she?! That puts a smile on my face and faith in the heavens above. Lord knows she has been through it all. She's been through slavery. Yes sir...

But NOW, she is safe and sound in the real world, full of every possible dream she could have! God bless her and may all feel inspired by the goodness in all our hearts!

And now...I'm gonna have to play this song again!
Because that's how I feel right now!

Skip James – “I’m So Glad” mp3

Remember: optimism is not on automatic transmission...you gotta make it work.

God bless

War And Blues

"After nearly a decade at war in Afghanistan, the United States still has not defined the terms of the conflict. Seven months after President Barack Obama's administration released its wide-ranging strategic review of the war, basic questions remain..."
(Continue reading article from Huffington Post)

(Sigh) Well, I guess no man knows the answer to war, really. Or else we'd a had one by now. They are now asking the question, " What is the solution for Afghanistan?" My question is, " Was there one ever? " Lookee here, people...war is like a bad relationship, sometimes. Which will just lead you to the blues. If you stop and think about it for a minute, you'll always have a song to sing. It will just be a blues song. Maybe one day we will have more blues songs than weapons for war. And I'll be so glad...

Beatles New Cd Is Sellin' like Gold Dimes

Nearly 40 years after breaking up, The Beatles are still breaking records for album sales. EMI Group PLC says consumers in North America, Japan and the U.K. bought more than 2.25 million copies of the Fab Four's re-mastered albums in the first five days after their Sept. 9 release.
(Huffington Post article)

Hmmm...that's nice. I wonder if that's helpin' them out some. I sure do know some folks who could use that kind of money...

Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers

I guess San Francisco is famous for being kinda crazy. That's what I always hear, anyway. I couldn't really help but notice the name of this particular outfit. It kinda sticks to the roof of your mouth when you say it.

Hmmmmm...kinda reminds me of this group:

Jelly Roll Morton & his Red Hot Peppers – “Little Lawrence” mp3

Alright, y'all take care now...

Here's what they are sayin' about Lavay Smith:

" When it came time for Lavay Smith to pick a venue to celebrate the release of her group's new album, the ravishing San Francisco jazz singer didn't have to look far. It had to be Cafe Du Nord, the same spot she once played sold-out shows every week for nearly 10 years..."

Freedom Jazz Dance Covers The Blues

Thank you Mrs. Stim for the kind words. Must be a real music fan. I know I am. It becomes a remedy for confusion when all you see is the hectic headlines in the world news. Sometimes the blues is all we got. But up above beyond the blues, I feel the blessed beauty of it all. If you have lost that freedom of thought then maybe you need a little spice in your life. Hmmm...maybe you need to Jazz up your day or evening. A nice glass of whatever tickles your fancy, a smile to the heavens above and a little dancin' to move the soul. Sound good? Good. Because I found a great sound track to go with that...it happens to be a classic tune from Miles Davis...and we know his kind of Blue.

Enjoy

I confess, when I saw the title Freedom Jazz Dance, I half expected an ironic indie rock send up, sax or perhaps a sloppy jam band abomination. What we have instead is, well, a freedom jazz dance! And it’s funky. This has a great, low swing to it and some tasty, lovingly executed leads on tenor sax and muted trumpet.

Blues Music Mp3's For Free??

Hey Everybody! Long time no talk to. I been away on virtual vacation, here in Netsville. Wonderin' about these financial blues that seems to be everywhere. You look left, you look right, up, down and all around...I don't even know, really, what to say about it.
One thing I can say about it, though, is that when ever I have the blues...I gotta play or go get me some blues music. But with all this economic frustration, I can't afford to buy any. I can't even support my own peoples music. It's a shame, I know. But, Lord knows I aint the only one. Some folks are lookin' around for some kind of remedy. And don't really have a way to pay nobody nothin' in exchange. Do you understand what I'm sayin' here?
These are hard times...

But then I stumbled across a brand new website that's just givin' away music for free! Now I aint talkin' about illegal mp3's that are gonna get you in trouble. No sir. I'm not even talkin' about PD4U. That's a good source of blues, but old news. Old songs, too. Good songs, though. But what I'm talkin' about is a brand new and modern up to date music source, with up to date mp3's. They got ALL kinds of music, sure, but they also have a little blues page started up.
Check her out...she's hip and cool and has come to my rescue...

Super Fan 2009 (blues section)

You'll know what I mean...

Ok now...try to stay positive.
Use the music, people...

Gary Davis: You Got To Go Down

Here he is...

Reverend Gary Davis. He has got a fine message for all of us today. If you can take a minute to try and understand what he's sayin, you and your companion might make it through another week. We got money problems, political issues and war to deal with everyday. And what Gary Davis is trying to say to everybody is that you have to go down. And that's all he is sayin'.

You can interpret those words into whatever you want, now...but believe me...when your wife wakes up early in the morning SHE might look at you and have her OWN definition...

Y'all have a good day, now...
